How to use Convert video

What it does

Convert a video to MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV or GIF. It converts the whole video; there is no way to convert only a part. The video is processed on your device and is not uploaded.

Step by step

Drop a video file onto the page, or click to choose one.
On the “Format” tab, choose one of MP4, WEBM, MOV, MKV or GIF under “Convert to”. The default is MP4.
On the “Result” tab, check what happens to the original, the size, the motion and the sound.
Click “Convert”.
When it finishes, use “Save” to download the file. The sizes of the original and the result are shown together.

Good to know

MP4, MOV and MKV are re-encoded with H.264 video and AAC audio. Only the first video and the first audio track are included.
WEBM is made with an encoder that comes with the video engine. It takes a little longer than the other formats. If this device can't use it, a message says so; choose MP4 or MKV instead.
GIF drops the sound and makes an animation 480 px wide at 10 frames per second. It loops forever. It suits short clips.
Unless the format is GIF, the size stays the same. If the width or height is an odd number, it is reduced by 1 px.
The file name is the original name followed by “-converted”, for example clip-converted.mp4.
The first time, the video engine (about 32 MB) is downloaded. How long it takes depends on the length of the video and on your device.
