Can I join videos of different sizes?

Yes. They are fitted to the size of the first video. If the aspect ratio is different, black bars may appear.

How do I change the order?

In the “Merge order” list on the “Order” tab, press the up or down arrow button on a video. After you change the order, the preview goes back to the start.

It says “Couldn't merge the videos”.

Use shorter videos or fewer of them, then try again. Remove any video that won't open from the list.

How to use Merge videos

What it does

Join several videos, in order, into one file. Start with one video, add the others, set the order, and merge them. The videos are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

Step by step

Drop the first video file onto the page, or click to choose one.
On the “Order” tab, click “Add videos” to add the videos to join. You can choose several at once.
In the “Merge order” list, use the up and down arrow buttons on each video to change the order, and the X button to remove it from the list.
Check the total length shown under “Total length”, then click “Merge”. It can be clicked once there are 2 or more videos.
When it finishes, use “Save” to download the file, or “Keep going” to pass it to another tool.

Good to know

The videos are merged at the size of the first video. Videos of a different size are fitted inside it with their aspect ratio kept, and the leftover space gets black bars.
The frame rate is set to 30 frames per second for all of them. A video without sound is joined with silence in its place.
A file that isn't a video, or can't be opened, is skipped, and you are told which one was left out.
The result is always an MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio). It is re-encoded, so it is not exactly identical to the originals. The longer the combined length, the more time it takes.
The first time, the video engine (about 32 MB) is downloaded.
The file name is the name of the first video followed by “-merged”, for example trip-merged.mp4.
