How to use Flip

What it does

Flip a video left to right or top to bottom and save it as a new file. Flipping left to right gives a mirror image, and flipping top to bottom turns it upside down. The video is processed on your device and is not uploaded.

Step by step

Drop a video file onto the page, or click to choose one.
Under “Direction”, choose “Left–right” or “Top–bottom”. The default is “Left–right”.
The video on the screen changes to show the flipped picture. Play it to check.
Click “Flip”. When it finishes, use “Save” to download the file, or “Keep going” to pass it to another tool.

Good to know

What you see on the screen is a preview. Clicking “Flip” flips the video itself.
If the video has text or signs in it, they are flipped too and read backwards. The size and the length of the video stay the same.
The result is always an MP4 (H.264 video, AAC audio). It is re-encoded, so it is not exactly identical to the original, and it contains only the first video and the first audio track.
The first time, the video engine (about 32 MB) is downloaded. How long the job takes depends on the length of the video and on your device.
The file name is the original name followed by “-flipped”, for example trip-flipped.mp4.
You can choose only one direction at a time. To flip both left to right and top to bottom, open the saved file again and flip it once more.
