How to use PowerPoint viewer
What it does
Opens a PowerPoint file (.pptx) and shows its slides one under another. You can page through them, change the size, and view them one at a time in a presentation view. It does not edit the file or make a new one.
Step by step
Drop a PowerPoint file (.pptx) onto the screen, or click to choose one.
When the slides open, scroll, or use “Previous slide” and “Next slide” on the bar below. With the slide area focused, the left and right arrow keys also move between slides, and Home and End jump to the first and last.
Change the size with “Zoom out”, “Zoom in” or the slider next to them, from 50% to 200% in steps of 10%. The starting 100% makes a slide fill the width of the screen, and clicking the percentage returns to “Fit to width”.
In the “Slides” list on the right, click a small picture to go to that slide. “File info” shows the number of slides, the slide size and the file size.
Click “Present full screen” to see one slide at a time, filling the screen. Move with the arrow keys, Space or Enter, and end with Esc.
Good to know
Animations and slide transitions are not shown. Speaker notes are not available either.
SmartArt is drawn approximately from the picture data in the file, and charts can differ a little from the original. Fonts missing on this device are replaced, so line breaks and shapes can differ.
If an element could not be drawn, the “Good to know” tab shows how many, counted over the slides drawn so far.
Links cannot be clicked, and pictures and videos hosted on the internet are not loaded. Pictures stored inside the file are shown as they are.
Old .ppt files can't be opened. Open the file in PowerPoint, choose Save As, save it as .pptx, and add that. Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to a server.
Frequently asked questions
Can it open .ppt files?
No. .ppt is an old file type that it can't read. Open the file in PowerPoint, save it as .pptx, and add that. A file with a password works the same way: remove the password first, then save.
Does it show speaker notes or animations?
No. It shows only how the slides look. Animations, slide transitions and speaker notes are not shown.
The fonts or shapes differ from PowerPoint.
Fonts missing on this device are replaced, and SmartArt and charts are drawn approximately. So line breaks and shapes can differ a little from the original.
