How to use HWP converter

What it does

Saves a Hangul document (.hwp) as a PDF or a text file (.txt). The PDF keeps the look of each page as a picture, and the text file takes out the text only. It does not make an exact copy of the original.

Step by step

  1. Drop the HWP file onto the screen, or click to choose it.
  2. When the document is read, page pictures appear in the middle. All pages are picked at first. Click the pages you want, or type a range such as 1-3, 5 under “Pages”.
  3. Under “Output”, choose “PDF” or “Text (.txt)”. PDF is the default. For PDF, set “Quality” to “Standard” or “Sharp”.
  4. Click “Convert to PDF” (“Convert to text” for text).
  5. Click “Save” to save it. The file name is the original name with “-converted” added.

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy text from the PDF?
No. The PDF holds the pages as pictures. If you need the text, set “Output” to “Text (.txt)” and convert again.
The PDF looks different from what I saw in Hangul.
Hancom's fonts are not available, so pages are drawn with Pretendard. Letter shapes and line breaks can differ a little. Tables, pictures and page size are followed.
Can I convert .hwpx files too?
This tool is for .hwp only. Use “HWPX converter” to turn a .hwpx into Word or text.
