How to use PDF viewer

What it does

Opens a PDF right in this browser, without uploading it. Read the pages in one continuous scroll, select and copy text, and search the text inside the document. It only shows the file and never changes it.

Step by step

Drop a PDF onto the screen, or click to choose one.
Scroll down to read. In the bar under the stage, type a page number or use the up and down arrows to move between pages.
In “Zoom level”, choose “Fit width” or anything from 50% to 200%. The plus and minus buttons change it one step at a time.
On the “Find” tab on the right, type in “Text to find” and the matches are marked on the pages. Enter goes to the next result, Shift and Enter to the previous one.
To get it on paper, click “Print”.

Good to know

Only the pages near the screen are drawn, so a file with many pages still opens right away. The text sits invisibly on top of each page, so you can drag to select it and copy it.
The “File” tab shows the page count and file size, plus the title and author if the PDF has them. If the browser could not draw some pages, “Pages not drawn” says how many.
Find needs the PDF to contain text. For a scan with no text, it tells you there is nothing to search and points to OCR. Text that wraps across a line break may not be found.
A password-protected PDF shows a “Password” field. Enter the password and it opens, and the file is not changed. A file opened this way cannot be printed, and other tools cannot open a password-protected PDF, so use “Unlock” first.
Links and scripts inside the document are not opened or run. Fonts or special effects can make a page look slightly different from the original.
The “What you can do with this file” tab sends the open file straight to Compress, Merge, Split, PDF to JPG, PDF to Markdown, Organize, Protect and OCR.
The file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to a server.
