How to use Compare

What it does

Compares the text of two PDFs and shows what changed. The PDF you upload first is “Before”, and the one you pick next is “After”. Removed and added text is marked page by page.

Step by step

  1. Drop the PDF that will be “Before” onto the screen, or click to choose it.
  2. On the “After PDF” tab, click “Choose a file” and pick the newer PDF. You can also drop a PDF onto the “After” area. To swap it, click “Other file”.
  3. Click “Compare”.
  4. In the result, check the text marked “Removed” and “Added” on each page. Use “Next change” to move on.
  5. Click “Save report”. A .txt file with the changes is saved. The file name is the “Before” PDF’s name with “-compared” added.

Frequently asked questions

Which one is “Before” and which is “After”?
The PDF you upload first is “Before”. The one you pick under “After PDF” is “After”. If you swap them, “Removed” and “Added” swap too.
Can I compare scanned PDFs?
A scanned PDF with no text cannot be compared. Run OCR first to turn it into a PDF that has text.
What is in the report?
The Before and After file names and page counts, a summary of how many words were removed and added, and the changed text for each page. If nothing changed, it says no text changed.
