How to use Extract images

What it does

Pulls the photos and pictures out of a PDF as files. JPGs are saved as they are, the rest as PNG. Images come out at their own size, not the size they take up on the page.

Step by step

  1. Drop a PDF onto the screen, or click to choose one. It finds the images by itself and lists them with page number, size and format.
  2. On the “Images” tab, decide on “Skip tiny images”. It starts on.
  3. Click “Extract images”.
  4. Click “Save” on each image, or “Save all” to save them at once. The file name is the original name with a number, like “-image-1”.

Frequently asked questions

Can I save a whole PDF page as a picture?
This tool only extracts the images that are inside the PDF. To save whole pages as pictures, use “Save as JPG”.
It says “No images to extract”.
The PDF may have no images, as with a PDF of only text and shapes. If it only had tiny images and they were all skipped, turn off “Skip tiny images” to extract them.
Does it change my original PDF?
No. The images are saved as new files, and the original PDF stays as it is.
