Can I record video without sound?

No. This tool requests the camera and the microphone together. There is no setting to turn off only the microphone.

How to use Webcam recorder

What it does

Record video with your webcam and save it as a file. The camera picture and the microphone sound are recorded together. The video is processed on your device and is not uploaded.

Step by step

On the “Input” tab, choose the devices to use under “Camera” and “Microphone”. Both start as “Default device”. You can pick from a list only when there are two or more devices.
Click “Start recording”. If the browser asks to use the camera and microphone, click Allow.
While recording, “Camera view” shows a live picture, and the recording time and the “Input level” bar move.
Click “Recording · Stop”.
When it finishes, use “Save” to download the file. To start over, click “Record again”.

Good to know

The camera and the microphone are requested together. If either one isn't allowed or isn't connected, recording doesn't start. There is no setting to leave the sound out.
If the browser is blocking access, a message appears. Click the lock icon at the left of the address bar, allow the camera, then start again.
If another app is using the camera, a message says it can't be used. Close that app, then start again.
You can't choose the save format. The recording is saved as it was recorded: WebM if the browser supports WebM, otherwise MP4.
The file name is “webcam-recording” followed by the date and time, for example webcam-recording_20261101_1423.webm.
In a browser that can't record, the message “This browser can't record” appears. Open the page in the latest Chrome, Edge or Safari.
